Help SQSH strengthen the impact of our Helpline & SQSHBook programs – to provide care and connection to the queer community of Greater St. Louis!

Peer Support Helpline:

SQSH’s Helpline is a vital resource that provides free, confidential peer-based support, identity-affirming listening, and tailored resource referrals. Our callers lead the conversation; we provide non-judgmental listening to promote clarity, autonomy, and emotional relief for LGBTQIA+ people of any age.

While SQSH’s Helpline was built to address an identified need in the St. Louis queer community, it has always served callers from across the United States, often helping to fill gaps in rural and urban communities that lack the dedicated community resources provided by organizations like SQSH.

Our Helpline's Impact:

  • In an average year, SQSH’s Helpline fields 180+ calls and provides 80+ hours of peer support.
  • Over 90% of Helpline Callers surveyed express feeling satisfied or very satisfied with the service they received. By the end of a call, callers have described feeling: Understood, thankful, a lot better, grateful for resources, validated, and calmer

SQSHBook Resource Database:

SQSHBook catalogs 1,800+ resources and helps queer St. Louisans access vetted, identity-affirming resources across categories such as housing, food, healthcare, support groups, and more. We developed this easily searchable web application with six filters and over 200 categories to help users find exactly the kind of support they need.

SQSHBook’s core belief is that word-of-mouth recommendations are the primary way that marginalized communities exchange referrals, so we invite user reviews and submissions. Resources that are vetted by SQSH’s partner organizations and reviewed by community members are spotlighted on the platform.

SQSHBook's mission is to break down gatekeeping and siloes that limit community access to resources and to increase queer St. Louisans’ trust and familiarity with the local service ecosystem.

SQSHBook's Impact:

  • As of 2026, 8,000+ total users visit the SQSHBook site annually.

  • “The SQSHBook is a wealth of much-needed information for the STL community. It genuinely reflects and cultivates inclusivity.” – SQSHBook User

All SQSH programs have a common goal: For community members to emerge from the interaction – whether it’s a helpline call or a SQSHBook search – with a stronger understanding of their own experience, feeling more connected to their power, and feeling motivated to live their lives to the fullest extent.

Mission
