Each year, Student to Student, a program of the Newmark Institute at the Jewish Community Relations Council, reaches over 4000 students in local schools with little or no Jewish presence. These students can now put a “human face” on Judaism—the best antidote to antisemitism, bigotry, and intolerance.
Our Jewish teen leaders present to their peers on topics like Jewish rituals, Shabbat and holidays, the Holocaust, and Israel - all while being empowered to explore their own Jewish identity and story. While classroom presentations remain the heart of what we do, we have furthered our impact by organizing classroom tours of synagogues, facilitating trips to the St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum, and playing key roles in Diversity Awareness Partnership initiatives at venues like the St. Louis Zoo and Botanical Gardens. We've also become a resource to our partner educators who have found their own ways to incorporate Student to Student lessons into their own curriculum and have gotten involved in other JCRC programs. We also regularly receive updates from Student to Student leaders who have graduated telling us that they've kept their Student to Student materials and led their own presentations on their college campuses.
But we don't do it alone - the important work of Student to Student is only made possible by the generous support of donors like you. Please know that your contributions are lighting a path that stretches l'dor v'dor, from generation to generation.
Thank you for choosing Student to Student for your GiveSTLday donations,
Lauren Abraham, Director of Student to Student
