Faith for Justice connects people of faith to Black-led movement, organizations and campaigns, and confronts religious supremacy so often present in various worship traditions. Our primary points of confrontation are blatant and internalized anti-Blackness, anti-trans bigotry, misogyny, ableism, ageism, poverty, the carceral state. Since 2014, we have planned and partnered with organizations and congregations in amplifying diasporic arts, history and culture, youth education and policy advocacy, community healing, Black Trans justice, protest actions and building radical political power. We are guided by Black womanist theology and Black Queer feminism to mobilize and partner with the people to lead the charge for transformative change in our own communities, so we can establish social, educational, and economic mobility.
We strive for the Afro Future through organizing and collaboration. Building local power in St. Louis national interfaith groups to engage Black people of faith. Most recently on the importance of reproductive justice, assisted in the work of a multi-year campaign to close a local debtors jail, and sponsored programs for spiritual and mental health through the diasporic arts. We are proud fiscal sponsors of groups who provide education and care for Queer & Trans People of Color, especially disabled people, the working poor, sex workers and the unhoused.
Our mission is carried out through strategic partnerships and four programs:
-The Community Healing Fund (CHF), for neighbors who are unhoused, dealing with addiction, people at risk of carceral violence or community harm.
-The Fatal State Violence Response program (FSV), a Black-led grassroots collective who supports the loved ones of people killed by state-sanctioned violence in the St. Louis region.
-Protect Black Women (PBW), a campaign centered on holistic health - including reproductive, mental and emotional health provisions for Black women and birthing persons of all gender identities.
-Environmental & Economic Stability Policy (ESP), our climate and economic justice program centered on building Black wealth, advocating for material provision inclusive of fiscal and physical stability for families, and ensuring confidence in living conditions.
