People Helping Paws Dog Rescue is a dog rescue and pet food pantry serving Missouri residents.

In 2010, People Helping Paws Dog Rescue (PHPDR) founder, Stacy Stafford, and a few friends wanted to make a difference for the abandoned animals in their community. Together, they started a local pet food pantry for the Jefferson City, MO and surrounding areas to help owners be better able to keep and care for their pets. This initiative was a powerful step for those struggling, and quickly expanded to assist in providing basic vetting services for those in need.

People Helping Paws Dog Rescue took a new life as a rescue organization in 2012, helping to keep dogs out of overcrowded shelters and abandonment and expand our footprint state-wide.  We specialize in pulling pit bulls and bully breeds from kill shelters and at-risk dogs that have medical or other issues which prevent them from being adopted. Our team works to rehabilitate these pups and give them a proper chance at life! Since our formation, PHPDR has saved over a thousand pets from euthanasia and, with your support, we continue to grow in the number of lives we save!

Mission

Our mission is to reduce the number of dogs needlessly euthanized in Missouri by fostering hard-to-place breeds and/or medically needy dogs to prepare them for adoption into loving homes and by providing community support to help pets stay in loving homes.
