In 2007 Barb and Laurence Hutchinson had 2 horses, one of which was a thoroughbred they rescued from a slaughter sale. That summer a friend of theirs that works at Fairmount Park, Ginny Wood, called Barb about a horse that was being sold to the killers because he had slab fractured his knee during a race. Barb bought the horse, paid for the surgery, and as they say - the rest is history. They have since formed a 501c3 called Renaissance Rescue Ranch, located on HWY 0 near Farmington, Missouri. The rescue facility is home to more than 100 horses including many of which are retired thoroughbred horses that were injured or not fast enough in their racing careers. Some are as young as 2 years old and some as old as 30+.

Our facility has horses from all over the country. Our horses are rescued from all over the country and all walks of life. Race horses, farm horses… anything you can think of and imagine. The ranch has some special needs horses, including 2 blind horses.

We rescue where we can and rehabilitate our horses when they need special care.

Mission

Our Mission is to provide a second chance and a peaceful life for unwanted horses. We are a 'no kill' facility that feels horses have given so much to humans that we owe them a second chance.
