KDHX is one of the largest, longest-running and most successful community radio stations in the United States. KDHX is the only media source in St. Louis where the diverse music and perspectives of our region can be found. This is why music lovers across St. Louis and beyond love KDHX.
”I'm giving to KDHX because they play music that other radio stations do not play. KDHX supports local artists and helps them get heard. KDHX also helps the community and brings people together. The DJs are super duper dope and cool human beings." - Orlando, St. Louis, MO
KDHX was founded to represent the St. Louis community of listeners–a place where all members of the community can see and hear themselves reflected in our programming. Currently, 65% of KDHX on-air volunteers are from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds, a 42% increase over the last fourteen months. On KDHX, you can hear metal, jazz, ambient, soul, hip-hop, bluegrass, and more. KDHX is one of the only media organizations in the country with this level of representation.
“KDHX brings artists and fans together under the magical umbrella of a shared musical experience, connecting listeners from all over the Saint Louis region. The value of an institution like KDHX surpasses the capacity available in today's climate of media consumption.” - Rebel Mae, co-host of Thick as Thieves on 88.1 KDHX
KDHX stands alone in St. Louis media as the platform where programmers come directly from the communities they represent. On-air volunteers create programming that is shared across boundaries with the entire KDHX audience. KDHX’s programming helps us understand each other beyond stereotypes or narrow definitions and embrace our larger humanity. By diversifying the people and music on the airwaves, KDHX is building a future where walls between the communities that make up our region continue to be torn down.
At this moment, we are fundraising to ensure the incredible patchwork of human and musical diversity in our community can continue to be highlighted on the airwaves. Will you join us in our commitment to harness the power of music to engage and unite individuals and communities?
