Mission Gate Prison Ministry, a not-for-profit organization, is a Christian-based in-prison ministry and a residential aftercare program for men and women recently released from prisons, jails, or rehabilitation facilities. Our nine-to-twelve-month aftercare residential sober living homes and re-integration programs are accredited by the National Alliance for Recovery Residences (NARR). Mission Gate ha been in operation since 1985 and is a Member of the Missouri Coalition of Recovery Support Providers.
We house more than 300 men and women each year at our four sober living residential aftercare sites in and around the greater St. Louis area. Residents without a high school diploma receive GED/HiSet training and testing. They take mandatory classes that include anger management, financial stewardship, life-skills training, parenting classes, and trauma recovery support. They also attend counseling sessions, job readiness classes, and more. Residents are required to hold jobs and to attend church weekly. We also provide clean and safe housing, initial food supplies, clothing, hygiene items, and bedding. You can learn more about Mission Gate at our website: https://missiongateministry.org.
Our goal for this year's GiveSTL is $20,000. Funds collected will be used to purchase a van for use at our Promises of Hope aftercare facility, located in a rural area near Elsberry, MO. The van will provide resident transportation to and from jobs, doctor and dentist appointments, faith-based support activities, grocery runs, and church on Sunday mornings. It will also transport the children of residents to appointments, special events other scheduled activities.
