Opossum Rehab & Education of Missouri was founded in 2015 by Connie Light and JoAnn Allen with a combine wildlife rehabilitation experience of over 25 years. We are committed to providing the best care for the opossums in our care. As well as provide top notch community education on the Virginia Opossum that is so misunderstood.

We rescue injured and orphaned opossums in Missouri, rehabilitate until they are ready for release back in their natural environment.

As with many wildlife species that share space with humans, opossums may be considered as pests, but they do provide some significant benefits. Opossums are beneficial as insect and rodent eaters since those are two of the major components of their diet. They clean up uneaten food that might otherwise attract mice and rats. Because carrion (dead flesh) is also a large component of their diet, they play an important role in the delicate balance of nature as a clean-up crew. Also, lesser known they are important seed dispersers; they redistribute undamaged seeds through their excrement.
