The Society provides a full range of Low Vision and Vision Rehabilitation Services to over 1,000 individuals each year through the Drews Low Vision Clinic, Assistive Technology, Social Work Services, Adjustment, and In-Home services. All services are provided by licensed and/or certified Specialists, including a Doctor of Optometry, an Occupational Therapist, an Occupational Therapy Assistant, Vision Rehabilitation Therapists, Orientation & Mobility Specialists and Social Workers.

The primary causes of vision loss in older adults include Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, Glaucoma and Cataracts, and these eye diseases have led to more than 53,000 people age 65 and older in metro St. Louis reporting vision loss, many with more than one diagnosed eye condition. The Society's programs and services are specially designed for individuals with low vision and are focused on:
1. coping with vision loss,
2. maintaining, restoring or adapting skills to allow the individual to remain safe and independent in their own home, & involved in their family, home and community.
