As the nonprofit partner to the St. Louis Aquarium, the St. Louis Aquarium Foundation has the bold vision of inspiring people to act to make positive changes to protect the water that sustains all living things. The St. Louis Aquarium Foundation strives for this vision through engaging individuals through access, conservation and education programs, building powerful communities for water stewardship. We ensure that our programs are high quality, entertaining, educational and serving the needs of our community.
The following are just a few ways we impacted the community in 2023:
- Served over 3 times more students than we served the previous year, providing almost 14,000 students access to free field trips and education classes!
- Through our H2O Friends Program (Help to Our Friends), the Aquarium Foundation has provided free aquatic-science programs and activities for over 24,000 individuals in under-resourced communities and schools since opening!
-
Our education and animal care teams were able to bring the Aquarium directly into the community. Last year, we delivered 92 outreach programs through our H2O To Go Program!
-
In 2023, we doubled the number of clean up events from 3 to 6, allowing us to have a greater, positive impact in our community.
-
Last year, our volunteers and staff have collected over 190 bags of trash and prevented over 2,000 pounds of plastic pollution from entering the Mighty Mississippi and eventually our oceans.
-
Hosted 188 campers for our summer camp, Camp Fins & Friends, where the Aquarium Foundation provided 17 scholarships!
