Forest Park has been a restorative green space for 150 years. It was presented to "the people of St. Louis…for the enjoyment of yourselves, your children and your children's children forever," on June 24, 1876.
We work every day to realize the "forever" in that dedication. For the last 40 years, we have made sure everyone—from St. Louis and beyond—can access beautiful natural areas and well-maintained amenities. We restore historic features and care for a million square feet of landscape beds to sustain the best city park for a diverse community of visitors to enjoy. This is only possible with your support!
Our nonprofit conservancy works in partnership with the City of St. Louis, but Forest Park Forever does not receive tax funds through the region's Zoo Museum District. We rely on private donations to maintain and continually improve the Park for today's visitors and future generations.
It's been nearly a year since an EF3 tornado ripped through St. Louis and damaged more than 5,200 of the Park's namesake trees. Hundreds of volunteers helped our team and the City remove over a million pounds of debris. Tornado recovery is now part of our daily work and long-term plans. It will take many more years to recover fully. It will take decades and a significant investment to regrow the Park's canopy. But the storm did not change our mission.
